Palm Springs Year Round Living, Five Ways to Celebrate Our Outdoor Lifestyle

Palm Springs LifestyleFive Ways to Celebrate Palm Springs Year Round Living

Palm Springs is the King of year round living. Why?  Because we have things you can do for fun 12 months a year.  Check out these five ways to celebrate Palm Springs Year Round Living…..Here are just a few:

1) Remarkable Hiking and Biking

The Indian Canyons and Mt. San Jacinto State Park, via the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, feature over 150 miles of hiking trails through pristine wilderness, streams and ancient palm groves.  And bike trails around the city are fun and interesting with tall the Hollywood history and the Mid-Century homes.
Stop by Palm Springs Cyclery for a map or some good advice.  They also have books for sale on both subjects.

2) Thrilling Off-Road Tours

Take a guided four-wheel drive along the San Andreas Fault, learn about Palm Springs’ thousands of hillside windmills, or climb among the rocky moonscapes of Joshua Tree National Park.  THIS ONE is my favorite.

3) Vegas-Style Gaming

Skip the holiday traffic and get lucky at the downtown Palm Springs Spa Resort Casino for table games, slots, and poker…plus nightlife and dining. www.sparesortcasino.com

4) Knott’s Soak City

Stay cool when you whoosh down a 7-story waterslide, swim in an 800,000-galloon wave pool or chill on the lazy river at Knott’s Soak City Water Park. http://soakcityusa.com/

5) Cool Pool Parties

Enjoy the views from a cabana while listening to the sounds of the finest DJs at one Palm Springs’ weekend cool pool parties:

Ace Hotel: Drop by the pool every Sunday from 1 p.m. – 6p.m. and check out the action!

The Saguaro- New!  Hip and colorful with so much happening.
Chef driven restaurants with a New York flair for tapas and great tequilas..

Hotel Zoso: Every weekend, chill by the pool and enjoy DJ and sunshine.
As of this update, 2/21/13, the Zoso is officially going to be a Planet Hollywood by fall of 2013.
Palm Springs comes of age I’d say…..

Highway 111 is our main cross desert artery.

Note:  Highway 111 takes you off the 10 Freeway and heads into Uptown Palm Springs.  It turns left at Vista Chino then right on Gene Autry so that through traffic and trucks do not go into downtown.  If you do not take that first left turn at Vista Chino, you will proceed into the Uptown and Downtown districts then eventually join up with Hwy 111 again.

Traveling into Palm Springs on Highway 111 signals your arrival into the Eastern end of the Mojave Desert.  Coming off  The 10″ Freeway brings you across an 8 mile stretch of open desert to the north end of Palm Springs placing you on North Palm Canyon Drive. Known as our Uptown Arts and Design District, it’s home to many new galleries, shops and restaurants notably Trio, Dickie O’Neal’s Irish Pub, Copley’s, Birba, Rick’s and many other great choices.  Galleries such as Archangel,  Michael Lord and stores the likes of Trina Turk.  Yes that Trina Turk….
